West Palm Beach Mayor Lois Frankel, Environment Florida Research & Policy Center, and local clean energy companies, including Abundant Energy Inc., will showcase the city’s “green” Lake Pavilion and clean energy technologies at 10 a.m. Tuesday. The pavilion is part of WPB’s new waterfront commons area.
The event will serve as an unveiling of Environment Florida’s “Building a Solar Future” report, which aims to show the ways in which West Palm Beach and other municipalities can use solar energy to power houses, neighborhoods and even automobiles. The report describes policy changes that could leading to a wider use of solar power.
Also, a staff member from the Solar Source Institute will provide details about the green jobs training program at Palm Beach State College.
